Corinthians 5:5-9 (MSG)
The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we’ll never settle for less.
That’s why we live with such good cheer. You won’t see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don’t get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead.
It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going.
Do you suppose a few ruts in the road or rocks in the path are going to stop us? When the time comes, we’ll be plenty ready to exchange exile for homecoming.
But neither exile nor homecoming is the main thing. Cheerfully pleasing God is the main thing, and that’s what we aim to do, regardless of our conditions.

The Message Bible is blunter in its descriptive translation. Verse 7 is the keynote: It is what you trust in but do not yet see that keeps you going. Living by faith is not always smooth pathway. There will be obstacles in your path that will try to stop you to test your faith. When you see the obstacle do not turn away but stand with true grit. Remember that you are empowered by His Spirit to find a way to overcome. Look at every road block as spiritual hurdles to strengthen your trust in Him. Do not let the circumstances that surround you be the excuse that you will not try. The first hurdle in a race is always the hardest but once you jump over it there is a confidence that rises inside that you can jump them all. A record of someone’s great feat was not broken until someone made up their mind to break it. The closer you get to the Lord the brighter His Spirit will shine upon your path until only His shadow is what you see surrounding you as you walk your journey through life. Finding ways of cheerfully pleasing God is the direction you are aiming for regardless of the road conditions. The blessings that flow will equip you with the knowledge and understanding to clear the path and continue your journey. Receive your blessings today.
