Psalm 63:1-2 (KJV)
1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary

Psalm 63:6-8 (NLT)
6 I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night.
7 Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
8 I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.

A psalm written during a time that David was hiding in the wilderness of Judah from King Saul. At that time, he wrote psalms to comfort his soul. He had a relationship with the Lord that termed him to be a man after the heart of the Lord. He knew that his refuge was in the Lord. As a young lad he always had a longing to know the Lord. When he was running for his life the same desire followed him. He hungered and thirsted to be in the presence of the Lord to observe the glory and power of the Lord. He had been privileged to see such a wonder in a sacred, hallowed place. He had seen God’s power when he wrestled with a bear and a lion. David saw the glory of God as it guided the stone that struck Goliath down to the ground and won a victory over the Philistines. It is no wonder why he cries out to God as he is travelling in the deserts needing assistance. As he lay looking up into the stars of the desert night because he could not sleep. His thoughts were meditating upon the Lord. Meditating how the Lord was his helper and that he could still rejoice while he found refuge under the shadow of the Almighty. He knew the Lord would reach out and keep him secure. He never doubted the validity of God and made it a practice to seek the Lord early in the morning creating a sanctuary to be in contact with his God. He was clinging to the only one he knew that gave him hope in such a trying time. Such a beautiful relationship to live daily trusting in the blessings of hope and security. Receive your blessings today trusting in the only One who can fill your life with hope.
